The World Series of HPC: SC17
Fall is in the air and while my hometown Houston Astros are duking it out with the LA Dodgers in the 113th Major League Baseball World Series, I’m focused on preparation for what could be called the world series of high-performance computing (HPC)—the SC17 conference. It takes a lot of work to be at the top of your game, in sports, research, education and business. And, at Caringo, we strive to empower our customers with the tools, support and training they need to excel.
Pioneering new ideas takes both vision and perseverance—and Caringo’s founders were at the forefront of object storage technology. Over the years, our product has become field-hardened (with our core technology Swarm now at version 9.3) and we have added features and products to support the growing needs of our customers. Caringo provides a storage platform that enables businesses to preserve and continuously protect their data in an active archive. Our S3-compliant, multi-protocol, multi-tenant storage scales to 100s of petabytes and beyond and serves as the storage-as-a-service foundation of many HPC operations—from major educational institutions such as Texas Tech and University of Utrecht to national labs like Argonne and institutes like Max Planck and Johns Hopkins Center for Inherited Disease Research.
One of our priorities at Caringo is designing for ease of use and automated, policy-driven data management. With solutions that ease the burden of primary storage, we eliminate pesky storage silos and dramatically drive down storage TCO (up to 75%). This enables IT staff to work on high-priority, strategic initiatives and to preserve their work-life balance, so they have the time to relax with a cold brew and enjoy those sports games.
Whether you are rooting for the Astros or the Dodgers, I think we can all agree this has been the most fun and exciting World Series ever. And while we may not bring quite as much drama as MLB to the expo floor at SC17, we do have some fun planned for you. Come visit us for happy hour (booth #1001, near the main entrance to the expo) on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. for a cold color-changing glass of Left Hand Brewery Sawtooth Ale. While you are there, enjoy live demos with our talented Engineers or show us your best yo-yo tricks. You can also grab a ticket and enter to win a $300 Amazon gift card by completing a quick form and visiting our tech partners at FileCatalyst (booth #2255).
